Science Knowledge Quiz

How do you rate yourself in terms of your general knowledge of science? Compared to other people, do you think you are below average, about average, or above average?

The Pew Research Center developed a list of a dozen multiple-choice science questions and used them with a nationally representative group of 3,278 randomly selected U.S. adults. The adults were surveyed online and by mail between Aug. 11 and Sept. 3, 2014 (Pew Research Center, 2015).

What I Learned from Learning to Play a New Computer Game

At Thanksgiving in 2012, my older daughter introduced me to the game DragonVale. See http://dragonvale.wikia.com/wiki/DragonVale_Wiki. She got me started in using this free game on my iPad. This is a non-violent game suitable for a very broad range of children and adults. There are a great many people who play this game. After nearly three weeks of “study” and practice, there are still more than 500,000 players who are ranked above me. Indeed, I am ranked in the bottom third of players.

All Educators Are Engaged in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

SoTL is used to represent both the Science of Teaching and Learning and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. Neither of these terms is very old, but Scholarship of Teaching and Learning is the newer.
